How to create something great

We all have it in us. We are all capable of creating something great. Sometimes it’s that small spark of inspiration. Sometimes it’s a never-ending passion. The goal is to start and create something great.

  • learn as much as you can about the things that matter
  • lear as much new stuff as possible
  • imagine something great. without imagination there is nothing great
  • think about it all the time
  • think about it waking up
  • think about it in the shower (the shower is a multiplier of ideas)
  • pay attention to what’s around you. all the time
  • notice people’s problems. note them
  • ask questions. ask more questions.
  • write things down. daily
  • sketch things down. always
  • talk about your ideas with creative people
  • seek criticism
  • write those criticisms down
  • struggle. it’s good to struggle
  • prototype your ideas. as quickly as possible
  • use your prototypes - it’s like tasting your cooking as you go
  • question your work. be your worst critic. it’s ok
  • fail hard
  • restart if needed
  • seek more criticism
  • expect problems. seek them out and squash them
  • keep refining your ideas. there’s always a way to improve something
  • tell your story. talk about your journey
  • ship it and engage with your audience
  • do it again. do it better
  • repeat

This series of content is a small experiment. I pledged to create a piece of content on my site for the next 365 days. You can read the opening post here. The posts aren’t limited to thoughts or ideas, they’re really just a way for me to create original content. If you got any feedback/questions, please reach out. Thanks for looking.
