Never general

  • General is boring.
  • General is targeting the mass market.
  • General is cheap
  • General is unremarkable
  • General is walmart
  • General is forgettable
  • General is going to disappear

Whatever you create, whatever you make, whatever your art is - it can’t be general. It can’t be for the general population. It can’t be for the general market. It can’t be any of that anymore.

You have to think Courageous. You have to take risks. You have to strive to be remarkable - and the only way to do that is to target a specific group of people, a specific market - and then dig deep. Deliver something unforgettable. Surprise and overwhelm. 

Far too often we strive to please too many people and end up failing. The future world economy is niche. And a niche economy in a population of 7 billion is quite deep indeed.
