Same but different is usually not enough. When we look for a cause and a purpose - those who are same but different are usually focused on copying the surface. They’re superficial. Their focus is on getting close to the original, with a slight difference.
Entering existing categories can work - it just needs to come from a position of purpose and intent. It requires a vision and a plan. It requires understanding the market. Otherwise the product can join the same ranks as the stuff you see at Walmart or an equivalent store.
You can’t do same but different - but, you can enter an existing market and compete. You just need a reason to be there (besides money).
