Every successful brand, individual, company has at one point taken steps towards leadership. Those steps were likely intentional. Accidental leadership happens, sure. It’s not common.
What this means is that leadership is a choice. It’s a state of mind. If you choose to come to work and do the bare minimum and output the least possible, then yes. You’re not thinking like a leader. You’re not out to deliver something groundbreaking. You’re not doing everything that can be done. While you may work for an industry leader, your input may not be that of a leader.
When you choose to push further and do the difficult things, you’re a leader. When you do more than whats expected, when you do the right things that are important, you’re a leader. When you choose to lead, you’re a leader.
It’s not easy. It’s actually difficult. But, it’s important. It’s important for yourself and those around you. No one out there is striving to be the Silver. Everyone is shooting for the gold.
