Creating a new and unique design can be difficult. With the world completely open for inspiration, the search can be endless. With design history and competitors being there at the touch of a button, it can be impossible to be unique. Yes, but no.
The advice here is to simply keep searching and keep iterating. You can eventually step outside of the established boundaries if you continue to push what’s possible. Your initial work might be derivative or it will use up the stored “needs” that you will execute. Eventually you run out of those base ideas and you need to move on. That’s when you hit that wall. That’s when your solutions become difficult and less unique - and that’s when you push. The minute you know it’s difficult is the minute you know you’re on the right path.
Look for the difficulty and work within it. If you keep searching, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
This series of content is a small experiment. I pledged to create a piece of content on my site for the next 365 days. You can read the opening post here. The posts aren’t limited to thoughts or ideas, they’re really just a way for me to create original content. If you got any feedback/questions, please reach out. Thanks for looking.
