This is what you need to be to succeed in the world of design. And I guess in any other industry for that matter.
If you’re settled into your role and you think you know everything there is to know - you’ve stopped growing. The minute you mutter the words “We’ve tried this before, and it didn’t work” is the moment you’ve settled. You’ve settled for less. You’ve settled for easy. You’ve stopped pushing to the extent you can be pushing. You see, there’s more than one way to try something. There’s usually more than one outcome - and there’s usually more than one subsequent solution to an eventual problem. If you remain curious and open to learn, you can stumbleupon a new path - a new way to look at something. Perhaps, a better way.
If you’re not curious and unbiased, you’re loosing to those who are. It’ quite simple. Instead of settling into your own ways - you need to always be young, always be curious and always be a little foolish (thanks Steve Jobs).
This series of content is a small experiment. I pledged to create a piece of content on my site for the next 365 days. You can read the opening post here. The posts aren’t limited to thoughts or ideas, they’re really just a way for me to create original content. If you got any feedback/questions, please reach out. Thanks for looking.
